CLAIM: Curtis Hertel signed a hush agreement concerning millions in taxpayer money and incentives with a company controlled by China.

Hertel and one of his staffers signed nondisclosure agreements with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation related to the funding of Gotion, a Chinese-controlled factory that later quietly appeared as Chinese foreign principal in filings.

CLAIM: Hertel got campaign contributions from the law firm lobbying for the deal.

In 2023, Fox News reported that lobbyists for a CCP-tied company funneled cash to Democrats after filing as foreign agents.

Since 2015, the firm’s PAC contributed thousands to state campaigns for Hertel.
